A Special Day

April 12th is a very significant date for me. April 12th was the birthday of my late father, Matthew. April 12th, 2005 was the date that I discovered I was a highly sensitive person.

There’s a lot of sadness for me on this day. It’s hard for me to believe that my father passed away over thirty years ago. He and I were so much alike in temperament and personality. In my case, it proves that high sensitivity is an inherited character trait. (more…)

Do You Take Responsibility For Your Life?

It seems that taking responsibility for one’s actions and one’s life is not a given these days. Is it okay to avoid apologizing in order to appear stronger? Why do so many people feel victimized by their circumstances, and become so discouraged that they don’t seek to improve their lives?

I recently heard on the radio that it’s a sign of weakness to apologize to someone when you make a mistake. Forget about asking for forgiveness! Why does trying to correct an honest mistake make a person appear weak? I’m personally appalled by this kind of thinking. (more…)

Are HSPs More Prone to Health Issues?

I’ve been asked this question many times. Since I’m not a medical professional, I don’t have a definitive answer. I do know from personal experience, that if I have prolonged stress, my immune system is not working as well as it should.

I’m a highly sensitive person that’s like a human sponge that takes in everything around me. I exercise more self-care when life become too overwhelming. Being highly sensitive isn’t a character flaw or  weakness. It’s a natural way of being. The more I understand myself, the sooner I take precautions to prevent physical/emotional illness/disease. Could you use some motivation tips?

It happens to us all. One day we’re motivated, and the next day we’re not. You may have been filled with enthusiasm when the project began. Then you ran into some obstacles, or things ended up being way harder than expected. All that upsurge of energy inevitably wanes, as dreams morph into reality, and you lose your confidence and momentum.
