#HighlySensitivePeople: What Are Your Biggest Energy Drains?

As a highly sensitive person, my biggest energy drain is stress! I need to conserve all the energy that I have. I can’t waste time and energy on things that I have no control over. Life is too short to agonize over the little stuff in life. My biggest stressors include:

  • Getting involved in other people’s problems that I shouldn’t.
  • Letting the world’s problems overly upset me.
  • Being around negative people.

It’s not good for us to stay in a negative mindset! This is bad for our mental and physical health. Examples of this is are having headaches, fatigue, stomach problems, and other physically harmful feelings. These are all side effects of stress, which is always present with negative emotions. Mentally, you’ll find yourself being more irritable and upset, which can affect your loved ones.

Instead of complaining about everything that’s wrong, focus your efforts on fixing the things that you can fix. Spend time focusing on the things that you enjoy or are pleased with.

When you spend time and energy working towards things that you want and enjoy, you’ll lose that feeling of stress.  Get on a good sleep and exercise schedule. You’ll find that your mind is more at ease and you feel much healthier. You’ll wake up feeling energized and excited to start your day.

You’ll gain a sense of satisfaction just knowing that you’re taking control of your own path, that you’re living life how you want to live it rather than letting someone (or something) else turn you into an unproductive mess!

What are your biggest energy drains? What do you do about it? I’m interested in any thoughts or comments that you have.
