As highly sensitive people, it’s essential that we feel a sense of purpose, especially in these troubled times. We may talk endlessly about what our mission in life is, but not come up with answers. The best clue is to explore what excites you.
As for me, I’m excited! I look forward to writing more of these blog posts, providing HSP Email coaching, updating a book that I wrote fourteen years ago about my life as a highly sensitive person and the lessons that I’ve learned, and finishing a book on confidence. And above all, I appreciate your support and all the interactions I have with people who follow my work.
Today, I’m taking a pause to savor these good feelings and express my gratitude! It’s moments like this that I love being highly sensitive. For us, we may suffer terribly through life’s challenges but are rewarded with deep joy during the good times.
If you’re not feeling excited about anything now, use your deep- thinking abilities to reflect upon times when you did feel excited. Become a detective investigating your own passions in life. Everyone needs something to be excited about. That’s what makes life fun, and life IS supposed to be fun!
Below are some questions to ask yourself if you have trouble figuring out what will excite you.
- What do I love to do? What activity or hobby do I look forward to doing?
- If money was of no concern, how would I spend my time?
- How can I help others?
- What skills do I have that I wish I could use more?
- What accomplishments am I proud of?
Are there any other questions that you’d like to add? Do you have something to be excited about? I’d love to hear your answers. I’m interested in any thoughts or comments that you have.
If you find my content useful, I would appreciate it if you would share it with others! Feel free to use the share buttons below, or to add your comments to this post. I do respond to comments!

Nice blog post Cliff Harwin~I like those questions…they are great ones to reflect on, over and over, as we tend to get caught up in everyday minutia…it helps to pull the focus back to what brings us joy and how we can best use our talents. Yes…just planned a little getaway for March, road-trip…in uncertain these times, they’ve (plans) been start/stop so far, but God willing, we’ll be able to go have a little change of scenery. For now…it’s something to look forward to…but not the only thing…focusing on personal hobbies, interests, refreshing the home for the coming season…all give me something to look forward to also. Refresh. I woke focusing on gratitude for simple things this morning too….with recent times of world turmoil…I’ve decided to try to do this more for my own personal sanity.
Thank you Amy!
Protecting your sanity is a good thing!!
Keep doing what you’re doing.
You’re a great example for all of us!
