Highly Sensitive People: Is Conventional Wisdom… Really Wisdom?

The ability to listen to and trust our hearts & intuition are the keys to deep, personal wisdom. Highly sensitive people are “hard-wired” to do this work. Do you use your natural abilities?

What is conventional wisdom? Here is my interpretation:

People follow tradition, or what they have been taught, instead of listening to their instinct and heart. It’s not wisdom at all, wisdom is learned and earned over time by personal experience.

To summarize, people follow “traditional wisdom” because it’s easier to follow a more familiar path, but true wisdom is learned from personal intuition and experience.  Something to think about… I’ve found that many people still believe what that they learned in childhood. This includes something negative that was said to them by their parents, teachers, and other children. They carry negative feelings about themselves into adulthood. They never question whether these comments were true and apply in the present moment. Can you relate to this?

Is the more familiar path of thinking and acting the right path for you? That depends on the situation. The more conventional or more familiar path might have worked for you in the past. Has it worked for you in this specific moment? If so, this might be the way for you to go. If not, you can look within yourself and see if this is applicable today. You can set aside conventional wisdom and think differently and make adjustments as needed in your thinking and actions.

Is conventional wisdom really true wisdom?  I’m interested in any thoughts or comments that you have.
