Highly Sensitive People/ Introverts: How To Attract Your Tribe And Find People Like Yourself

An easy way to become more interesting is to have a hobby. Highly sensitive people/introverts are naturally curious and usually have a vast number of interests. What are you interested in?  Do you share your passions with others? Are you a collector?

If not, you’re missing a perfect opportunity to attract the types of people who are “good” for you. By that, I mean that you can use your hobby as a vehicle to help you socialize with people who share your interests. Maybe your hobby can even be a catalyst to starting your own business or give you ideas that you may not have thought of.

I get many questions from highly sensitive people/introverts about how they can meet others like themselves. Right livelihood is another common concern. Your talents and passions hold the key to unlock the answers to these questions.

If you don’t have a hobby, one idea is to start collecting something that you love. Collecting is a fun way to spend your time and share what you have with others. People collect a vast array of items that you may not have thought about. There are many collecting clubs that you can join. Below are some examples of things that people collect:

  • Indian relics
  • Antique primitive items
  • Ephemera (paper items, postcards, menus, theater programs, valentines, diaries, circus posters)
  • Train related items (photos, toys, memorabilia)
  • Ship or naval items or other nautical items
  • Toys and games
  • Dolls and bears
  • Figurines
  • Souvenir items
  • Stamps
  • Coins
  • Bottles
  • Vintage Christmas
  • Photography (photos, cameras)
  • Thimbles and buttons
  • Kitchen items (fruit jars, salt & pepper shakers, cookie jars, cooking utensils, china)
  • Antique advertising
  • Military items
  • Books, magazines, comic books
  • Music related (radios, instruments, song books, record albums)
  • Automobile items (license plates, model cars, advertising)
  • Gems/minerals
  • Belt buckles
  • Animal related items

I collect Coca Cola advertising items, old magazines and books, Chinese and Japanese figurines, bamboo plants, and newspaper and magazine clippings of articles that interest me. I love searching for these items! My newspaper and magazine clippings have helped my writing immensely by helping me trigger a multitude of ideas.

My wife and I have a mutual interest of going to flea markets, book sales, and estate sales. It gives us something to look forward to, takes us to new places, and is a great way to meet other people!

What hobbies/collections do you have? I’m interested in any thoughts or comments that you have.

I cycle across continents which provides a lot of solitude. I travel, and tend to find like minded people in hostels. I’m learning paragliding now, but it’s too soon to say what type of people enjoy this sport…

    Hi Lorne,

    Thank you for your input.
    You’re very adventurous!
I’m sure that you’ll find more people than you realise that share your interests. Keep doing what you’re doing.
