Highly Sensitive People: Are You An Optimist Or A Pessimist?

It’s important to give an honest answer to this question. First impression…Who would you most like to be around, someone who has a positive or negative attitude?

What sounds more appealing to you? A person who looks for the positive in every bad circumstance, or a person that looks and waits for something bad to happen?

The optimist is persistent in his/her life pursuits  and treats failure or hardship as a stepping stone to get closer to their goals. A pessimist gets discouraged easily and often quits before they can reach their true potential.

An optimist and pessimist both experience life’s ups and downs. The difference between the two is how they react to those situations. The optimist will strive for solutions in troubled times. The pessimist will think that there’s little hope or lack alternatives for problems.

Being a highly sensitive person, I’m very uneasy about unpredictable events that happen. I feel more secure when I have control. Can you relate to this, especially in this difficult time?

I’ve come to the realization that I can’t predict the future and can’t stop bad things from happening in my life. The good news is, I can control my behavior! Isn’t this comforting? I know what you’re thinking…. You’re thinking….No it’s not! LOL

We do have the choice to be optimistic or pessimistic. I’m not saying to look at life as all good, because that’s unrealistic. You can choose to be happy and to be at peace with yourself. It starts by controlling what you think.

What you dwell on in your thoughts determines how you view the world and the people in it. Negative people can crush the life of a highly sensitive person if they let it.

Again the question remains….Are you an optimist or a pessimist? If you’re currently not what you want to be…Are you willing to change?

I’m interested in any thoughts or comments that you have.
