Consistency outperforms perfection by Amy Barbato

I’ve decided to apply my approach to maintaining a healthful lifestyle, to other personal goals. I’ve often reassured friends who fall short of a desired daily exercise or diet plan, to repeat after me: “So what?” Take a breath, acknowledge that you did the best you could for today (you’re permitted a diversion), and just keep going.

Health experts now concur…it is what you do over time, not on any given day, that maintains fitness and health. Consistency is the key! If you’re not 100% all the time, it won’t derail your overall success, as long as you remain committed to your goals. (more…)

Do you think out of the box?

I came across an article online about a girl scout selling her cookies outside of a marijuana dispensary. There was a bit of controversy about her going to such an unconventional location, but to me, this girl was thinking out of the box. She went to a place where she knew people would have “the munchies” and was richly rewarded by selling 117 boxes in 2 hours!

This story reminds me of a time when my daughter, Stephanie, was selling girl scout cookies. This was a time when girl scout cookies cost $2.25 per box! Anyway, she excitedly came home and told me that she wanted to sell 150 boxes to get a cool sweatshirt. She mentioned that she could start selling on a specific day after school. (more…)

What are some characteristics of achievers?

What are some characteristics of achievers? I’m going to list a few of mine. I’m sure that you can relate to them as a highly sensitive person. They are as follows:

  • More concerned about personal achievement than the rewards of success. I get great satisfaction from doing something well. The monetary reward is secondary, though I’m not against making money and enjoying the benefits and freedom that it provides. (more…)

Are you organized?

I write this blog post as I’m in the process of doing major organizing in my home. It seems to be an overwhelming task. Where do I start? Can anyone relate to my dilemma?

I’m organized in a disorganized kind of way. Does this make sense? To give you an example, I have a habit of clipping articles from many sources on topics that I’m interested in. I have numerous folders with headings of specific topics. Sounds organized doesn’t it? Wrong! I’m still overwhelmed! (more…)
