As a highly sensitive person, do you feel more self-conscious than others? For as long as I remember, I’ve always been a highly sensitive person. Always self-conscious about my appearance, I worried about what other people thought of me. Since I was tall for my age, people frequently teased me about this.

While it’s normal for young people to feel awkward and self-conscious, HSPs are like “human sponges.” We react to, and take in everything around us. Feelings are magnified. We have certain intuition or strong feelings about everything and everyone. We feel we’re different from others. (more…)

Highly Sensitive/Introverts: Do You Have The Courage To Be Your True Self?

I’m a highly sensitive person that has many introverted characteristics. Social anxiety has always been a challenge for me. I went above my comfort zone when I facilitated over 40 HSP Meetup Groups through in- person meetings and teleconferences.

I had grown as a person by doing this. I learned that with some preparation and not being afraid to do something scary, that I could do something that I had a passion to do.

You can develop more courage when you learn more about yourself. You can do this by trying different things that you’re interested in, by reading, going to seminars, joining in-person groups, participating in online groups where you can meet other people who share your interests, and talking to like-minded people. I get correspondence and see comments from highly sensitive people and introverts of all ages lamenting that it’s too late to do something meaningful in their lives. As a 69-year-old highly sensitive person and introvert, I can definitely say that this isn’t true! I feel that my best years are yet to come! I’m excited about the prospect of writing much more information about HSPs and introverts. It’s important to have passion and something to look forward to.

I read an inspirational article about a woman who got her high school diploma at the age of 98! Ida Ruth Hayes Greene always regretted not having graduated from high school. She felt that something was missing in her life and decided to remedy that. She was not about to let her age get in the way! (more…)

It was meant to honor those who think differently, the “crazy ones,” the visionaries who inspire others to new levels of creativity.
