How can you improve your memory at any age?

As highly sensitive people, we love to learn and think deeply, so improving memory and maintaining our brain power for as long as possible should always be a priority! I recently read an article by Drs. Oz and Roisen on improving memory at any age. Below are their thoughts:

Brain scientists love to say the brain is “plastic,” which means it’s flexible and capable of growing new cells and making strong new connections between them, at any age. That means brain-friendly lifestyle changes can help ward off memory problems. Here are some lifestyle upgrades:

  • Enjoy plenty of produce, lean protein, good fats, 100 percent whole grains, and a little fat-free dairy, while steering clear of added sugars, syrups, trans and saturated fats and any grain that’s not 100 percent whole. (more…)

Does age decrease your ability to make wise decisions?

Does age decrease your ability to make wise decisions? From a personal standpoint, I hope not! I recently read an article that mentioned this.

A study published in the journal, Proceedings of Sciences, suggests that our ability to make wise decisions changes over time, and actually declines in old age.

The study found that in certain situations, the decision-making ability of people older than 65 was worse than that of adolescents. (more…)

Is discomfort bad?

At first glance, discomfort does seem bad, but it can prevent you from expanding the many possibilities that you have? It’s human nature to want to stay in your comfort zone, but does this help you?

Questioning your discomfort is a good starting point to see if your uneasy feelings are justified. If not, why not go for it? If so, it might be a good idea to dig deeper about the cause. Perhaps your angst is coming from somewhere else that needs to be explored and examined. (more…)

Are you losing your patience?

Are you losing your patience? Unfortunately I am. Sometimes, things seem to bother me more as I get older. This is frustrating because I assumed that I’d be more tolerant and wiser at this stage of the game. Do you feel this way?

I decided that a self-assessment is needed to help alleviate my angst. What is actually bothering me? What can I do about it? These are very important questions that we need to ask ourselves when we feel more agitated than usual. (more…)
