Would you like to enrich your life?

Can you honestly say that you are happy? Or do you feel uneasy or lacking in direction? Unfortunately, too many of us are unsatisfied with our lives. This may be especially true for highly sensitive people because we think deeply and are always looking for meaning in our lives. We may feel as though something is missing, even though we may not be able to identify exactly what it is.

It’s possible that you’re just bored with your life. You may have a full life, but it’s not filled with things that inspire you. Or perhaps you don’t have enough time for the things that are most important to you. How can you make the time to do things that help you feel more fulfilled?

If you want to enrich your life, start off by making a list of all the things that you’d like to do. The items on your list might be sports related, charity related, health related, family related, or it may just be a hobby that you wished you had more time for.

As highly sensitive people, we are creative souls, so you may want to consider some creative endeavors like painting, cooking, sewing, jewelry making, or whatever else you can think of. Perhaps you want to learn a new skill. Or you may want to have time to read more books, or even write a new one! If you think about it, there are endless possibilities for personal enrichment!

Another source of enrichment may involve helping others, which can be a great self-esteem booster. When you help others, you will benefit as much as they do. Offering to walk a friend’s dog or babysit for a young couple can make you feel needed. Other ideas include cooking for a senior, visiting someone in hospital, pet sitting, or volunteering at a charity. Once you start thinking, I’m sure you’ll come up with lots of ideas of things you could be doing.

Once you have brainstormed an “enrichment list,” select the one item that has the most interest for you, and find a way to integrate it into your life. Block off a few hours a week or month, and promise yourself to work on it. For example, if you’re passionate about a cause, look for ways, big or small, to volunteer your time. Perhaps you can help with a fundraiser, start a collection of needed items, or offer up specific skills that you have. If you’ve always been interested in jewelry making, why not see if you can find a class or purchase some books on the subject? Maybe you can find a group of people online that match your interest.

It can be challenging to juggle the many responsibilities that you have, but if you prioritize things that are most important to you, you’ll be richly rewarded. Sometimes just making a small change in your priorities can make huge difference in your life! You’ll start to feel that your life has more purpose. You’ll have something to look forward to. Who couldn’t use that?

What are some ways that you could enrich your life? Are there hobbies or interests that you’d like to explore? Are there new things that you’d like to learn? If so, what are they? If you had all the time in the world, how would you spend it? What is something that you always wanted to try but keep putting off? I’m interested in any thoughts or comments that you have.
