It’s important that highly sensitive people exercise their natural resource of creativity in order to feel fulfilled. The more creativity you express, the more happiness you will feel, which will enhance your self-esteem.
I find my inspiration from everywhere! Like most highly sensitive people, I’m aware of everything around me. I carefully listen to what other people say, read lots of articles and books, and am a constant observer of human nature. I never know where my inspiration may come from, but I’m always open to it. I might be watching a TV show or listening to the radio. Perhaps I’m outdoors enjoying a peaceful walk in the park, and an idea comes to me. When I’m relaxed and feeling good, the ideas seem to flow easily. I also get a lot of inspiration and ideas from the posts that I read on the internet.
I use these inspirations to write my books, blog posts, and social media entries. Sharing my thoughts and ideas and interacting with others is a very important part of my life. I love the process of turning my inspiration into something concrete that I can share with others.
Some people find their inspirations in really strange places. For example, I was reading about a Rutgers University student, Victoria Widener, who gets her inspiration from scraps of food left on a cafeteria tray, trash found along a city street, or a plastic bag hanging on a tree limb. For Widener, it’s more than garbage. She describes her work as eco-art. Art is anything that can inspire people and move them to feel something.
As Widener embarks on new challenges, she has words of advice to others who aren’t sure of their future plans. “It’s okay to be lost, as long as you keep your mind open, eventually you stumble into whatever it is that you are supposed to be doing.” The key take-aways for all of us is to keep an open mind, find inspiration wherever you can, and expect to succeed.
Where do you find your inspiration? How can you use it to expresss your creativity or to help others? I’m interested in any thoughts or comments that you have.
