Are you living up to your potential?

Are you living up to your potential? By that I mean, are you content to give just enough effort to coast by in life? I’m not immune from this malady. I have to catch myself when I lack the effort to go for what I want.

Living up to one’s potential is very subjective and varies from person to person. What’s right for you is the most important criteria. How often do we try to live someones version of what’s right for us? This will never work for anyone.

Here are some important questions to think about:

  • Are you giving your best effort? It’s impossible to give your best effort all of the time. However, we have to remind ourselves not to get into the habit of going through the motions of our lives and not accomplishing what we want. Clarifying your objectives will give you the momentum to take action.
  • Are you content to live a life that is not fulfilling? Sometimes it’s easier to do this. Don’t know what you want to do? Taking initiative to seek help and gathering information from the internet, library, adult education classes, seminars, are good starting points.
  • Do you accept what is, rather than what could be? It’s easy to look at your life the way it is and not see any other way of life. Don’t fall into this trap! Your life can be different. Take small steps now to move forward. Don’t use the excuse that your life is too hectic. When won’t it be hectic?
  • Are you open to new possibilities? Again, being open to new possibilities will help you see your life in a different light. Seek new experiences and go above your comfort zone. The more options you have, the better personal choices you’ll make.

I’m currently offering email consultations. This is a great option for highly sensitive people. Through e-mail consultation, I’ll ask you questions about yourself and what you’d like to accomplish. From this information, I can pose specific questions that will keep you focused on your objectives. You can take the time to reflect so that you can carefully consider your answers. In this way, we’ll work together to come up with better answers that fit your wants and needs. The goal of the consultation is to help you gain more clarity in whatever you want to accomplish. Contact me for more information.

Are you living up to your potential? If not, why not? I’m interested in any thoughts or comments that you have.
