Highly Sensitive People: My Wife Had Emergency Brain Surgery!

Since I haven’t been posting as much as I normally do, I wanted to let everyone know what has been going on. This past week has been a traumatic time for me and my family! My highly sensitive nerves have been worn to the quick. I have experienced a wide array of emotions, ranging from fear to overwhelm to anger to gratitude!

My wife hasn’t been feeling right for at least the past six months. She’s been forgetful and has had more physical challenges than usual. Two months ago, she fell in the bathroom and hit her head on the floor. I wanted to take her to the emergency room, but she said she felt fine. She had some minor bruising, but we didn’t think it was anything serious.

Highly Sensitive People: Should You Try To Change Yourself In These Difficult Times?

As a highly sensitive person, should you try to change yourself? I’ve been asked this question countless times and have seen on various online forums that people want to get rid of their high sensitivity. They seem to feel that their high sensitivity puts them at a disadvantage in life.

I’ve never felt that way. I’ll admit that I always felt “different” from others, but I could never pinpoint exactly why. When I first learned the term “highly sensitive person,” it was a profound experience. Highly Sensitive People: A Good Diversion!

On Saturday, the weather in Missouri, USA, was getting nicer, not too warm, not to cold, to do some yard work that I had been putting off. About a month ago, I bought fertilizer for my lawn that I figured that I would need soon. I’m glad that I did this, because now, I don’t want to leave the house, nor should I!

I thought that this day was the perfect time for me to take on this chore. I don’t like to do yard work, but I like to enjoy the results that it produces. I had a goal of fertilizing the lawn around my house. As I got started, I built up momentum to clear away some brush and do some weeding. This had to be done anyway, so I figured I’d do this at one time. Start, finish, and be done. That’s the way I like to do things! (more…)
