Do you have a reason for being? This question comes to mind because I was told by a person, who I adore very much, that he didn’t have a reason for being.

I recently went to a funeral for Estelle, my sister’s mother in law. My family and I celebrated many celebrations with her and her husband Bob. She and Bob were a very fun couple to be around. They were very upbeat and you could tell that they were very devoted to each other. They did everything together. Is dealing with loss difficult for you?

It’s true that we never know what’s going to happen from day-to-day. Grief for a human being, a beloved pet, a lost relationship, a job loss, or a loss in any other form can be devastating. Deeply feeling highly sensitive people may experience a longer lasting feeling of grief and loss. It’s important that we have a strategy to help us through these difficult times.

I would like to give you some of the strategies that help me in difficult times. They are as follows:

* Don’t minimize your loss. Don’t ignore the importance of your loss or be embarrassed by it. Be patient with yourself and give yourself enough time to work through your feelings. (more…)

What is the right livelihood for HSPs?

What is right livelihood? It’s a means of supporting one’s existence, especially financially or vocational. It’s important to note that your right livelihood may change as you go through life. Your focus might be to be a good student, parent, friend, caretaker, or enjoying a hobby or other avocation.

Some thoughts and suggestions include:

* HSPs can’t be in an environment where they feel uncomfortable or is a place that is anxiety ridden. A quiet environment is ideal.

* Helping careers such as counselors, coaches, teachers, social workers, nurses, event planners, companions, members of the clergy, information specialists such as librarians, volunteer work, virtual assistants, and tutors. They also do well as massage therapists and other body workers. (more…)
